They are smart, adorable, and almost human – able to convey loyalty and sweetness. They are the dogs that we see on the silver screen, and they totally warm our hearts.
These famous dogs have inspired us to get a pet, and our lives have changed forever. Who could forget these famous pooches on screen?
1. Snoopy
There is nobody in the world who has not encountered, read, or even caught a glimpse of this awesome beagle on screen or on print. He is a beagle and one of the best medium size toy dogs around. Snoopy is known to be wise and a little on the mischievous side, and famous for lines like “I’m no stupid beagle!”
Of course he’s not. Beagles are known to be smart and playful, with droopy eyes and ears that are so cute, you will catch yourself giggling from just looking at him.
2. Lassie
Her character symbolized loyalty, courage and bravery. This is the half collie Lassie, who is so intelligent and captured the TV screen for 20 years, outrunning most sitcoms and late night TV hosts.
Lassie was known to be hardworking too. True to its nature, collies are at their best when they are put on a task as they are originally bred as herding dogs.
3. Beethoven
Who wouldn’t adore a St. Bernard? Beethoven tumbles and drools all over the movie and warms all kids’ and adults’ hearts with his hugeness and cuddliness. At the end of the movie, the family couldn’t have enough of him and so did we.
St. Bernards can be a handful because they can grow up to 250 pounds but these gentle giants are great at work and are originally bred to rescue.
4. Eddie
This dog was more famous than Frasier in “Frasier”. He is a Jack Russell terrier and showed his excellent intelligence and handsomeness on the get go. Eddie is smart and witty dog who shows utmost loyalty especially to Frasier’s dad.
A Jack Russell terrier has lots of energy and should have a day packed with physical activity. It is highly intelligent and was mainly used in fox hunting.
5. Brian Griffith
Now this dog is not famous for his breed. The family dog in “The Family Guy”, Brian is a writer, walks on his hind legs and drinks cocktails. But then again, he loves his family a whole bunch and stays with them till the end.
6. Scooby Doo
He is another animated character but one of the most lovable indeed. Scooby Doo is a Great Dane with awesome detective skills and a hilarious laugh. This character definitely brought the magic into Saturday morning cartoons.
Great Danes are known to be the tallest among all dog breeds. They are great with children and they do not need much physical activity. They are loving and gentle and make great show dogs as well.
7. Santa’s Little Helper
He was adopted by Homer and Bart in “The Simpsons” after losing a Greyhound race. When that exploit failed, Santa’s Little Helper became a mainstay in the show that is now running for almost 3 decades.
Greyhounds have long powerful legs that are built for racing. They can go as fast as 64 kilometers per hour! Their built is sturdy and with little health complications.
8. Marley
In the movie “Marley and Me”, Marley is the Labrador who takes over the lives of Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. Faithful to his being the classic lab, Marley is full of mischief but oh so adorable. Marley also has a nice yellow coat. This is what labs have mostly, compared to brown and black coats.
9. Astro
He is the only cartoon dog that speaks baby language. Astro from “The Jetsons” is the dog of the future as he can talk and communicate like a human. He also made us wonder if we can train dogs to talk in the future, but that would be definitely be a long way from today.
10. Spuds MacKenzie
She is the Budweiser dog and the most controversial dog ever since she is the endorser for a beer company. But ever since Spuds became the brand ambassador for Budweiser, the beer company’s sales went up the roof and definitely appealed to a lot of dog-loving beer drinkers out there.
